A BOY’S DREAM

When I grow up I'd like to be A brave, strong rover out at sea, A sailing on the ocean tide To see the big world far and wide. But then I also wish to fly A whizzing jet plane in the sky; I’d made a loop and zoom and dash, And come to land without a crash. Oh! How many things I’d want to do! BETWEEN TWO ANGELS

There stood in a garden, a child sweet and fair, Watching some fruit that hang ripening there. Two anxious angels were watching above: One gazing in hatred, the other in love; One clothed in black, the other in white. The child never dreamed that the angels were there. He just longed for the fruit so rich and so rare. How I should like that big apple so red, But I cannot forget what my dear mother said, That doing the things I’m forbidden to do Would make m unhappy and grieve her heart, too. “Take it,” the dark angel whispered, “and eat it. It is not very often you get such a treat. There is no one to see you and no one to tell.” So up went a hand, it could reach the fruit well. I WANT TO SERVE MY COUNTRY

I want to be a farmer, A farmer good and wise, I want to serve my country By growing heaps of rice. I want to be a seller, A seller wise and good I want to serve my country By selling clean, pure food. I want to be a fireman, A fire strong and brave I want to serve my people Their homes from fire I’ll save. I want to be a policeman A policeman brave and strong I want to serve my people From robbers that do wrong. THE LITTLE GENTLEMAN

Take you meals, my little man, Always like a gentleman; Wash your face and hands with care, Change your shoes, and brush your hair Then so fresh and clean and neat, Come and take your proper seat; Do not loiter and be late, Making other people wait. Do not rudely point or touch; Do not eat and drink too much Finish what you have, before You even ask or send for more. Never crumble or destroy Food that others might enjoy; Never spill your milk or tea, Never rude or noisy be. Never choose the daintiest food, Be content with what is good; Seek in all things that you can To be a little gentleman.

WHERE THE STARS LOOK DOWN

So I shall go out where the winds blow, Far from the seething town; Ad the trees shall sing me anthems, And only the stars look down. And I shall burst my bondage, And as the wind and tide; Where the hills shall make my temple, And star shall be my guide. EVERY DAY A THANKSGIVING DAY

I’m thankful for my parents Who are so good and kind; I’m thankful for my little friends, They are the best you’d find. I’m thankful fr my voice That I can raise in song; I’m thankful God helps me Know the right from wrong.
