Her scaly back she straightened and stretched,
Under the sun she neither growled nor stirred
Just a piece of driftwood she really seemed.
Soon came the monkey a-hunting for food
He saw no trick but just a piece of wood;
Jumped he onto the log and screeched about
And lo! he's trapped in the crocodile's mouth!
"You'll make a tasty treat" roared the reptile
The monkey prayed, "Please don't dear crocodile,
I promise you some fat goats way up there
Oh, give me a ride and I'll show you where".
The reptile agreed, crossed she the river
"Land near that tree! said her clever rider,
And when they reach the bank under the tree
The monkey leaped into the branches-free.
