THE WINDS

               Softly breathing among leaves
            Gently blowing against the reeds;
            Soft breezes coming in from the see
            Gentle winds singing about me!

            When the day is not you bring cool reprieve
            You soothe my nerves that are tired;
            You blow the billowy clouds on high
            Sailing merrily across the sky!

           I wish you're always gentle
           As you travel across hill and vale;
           I hope you're always kind and gay
           You see I fear your might and mettle.

            Please don't come blowing hard on us
            Don't tear down our flimsy huts;
            I always like you gentle and cool
           As refreshing as water in a pool.
